Mick Herron

Ask a crime writer about their favourite current series among the many excellent ones that populate the genre, and there is a very good chance that their answer will involve the words Mick and Herron.

Mick’s Jackson Lamb series is rightly hugely regarded among his peers and continues to go from strength to strength. If you haven’t read it yet, do yourself a favour and do so.

The novels – Slow Horses, Dead Lions, Real Tigers, Spook Street, London Rules, and Joe Country – feature the slow horses of Slough House, a ragtag crew of banished spies whose misdemeanours have seen them push paper instead of ops. But these highly trained misfits didn’t join the Intelligence Service to be a slow horse.

The books are thrilling and laugh out loud funny in equal measure.

Dead Lions won the CWA Gold Dagger, Real Tigers, won the Last Laugh Award at Crimefest 2017, and Spook Street, won The Ian Fleming Steel Dagger. The Jackson Lamb series is currently being developed for TV.

Mick was born in Newcastle Upon Tyne and lives in Oxford.
