Mark Billingham

Mark Billingham is one of the most prolific and consistently brilliant crime writers at work today. His Tom Thorne books and standalone thrillers regularly top the bestseller  charts and he is now the author of 19 outstanding crime novels.

Mark started out as an actor, with appearances in the likes of The Bill and Juliet Bravo before a regular role in Maid Marian and her Merry Men. He has also been a TV writer and stand-up comedian.

However, it is as an author that he has enjoyed phenomenal success. Mark’s newest novel is the dazzling Their Little Secret, where Tom Thorne is investigating a woman’s suicide and he’s convinced she was driven to it by a man preying on vulnerable women.

Mark has twice won the Theakstons Crime Novel of the Year award and has been nominated for seven CWA Daggers. He is also a leading light in the Fun-Lovin’ Crime Writers, the crime writing super group that also features fellow guests Chris Brookmyre and Luca Veste. They will be coming to Bute fresh from their appearance at Glastonbury
